A couple of things worth checking out are this audio from a November 2000 presentation by Eduardo Galeano and Sebastiao Salgado. Some witty anecdotes and intelligent comments from both men.
Also there is this video of a presentation by Roger Tooth and John D McHugh, talking about a whole range of issues relating to journalism and news, with a particular slant on photography of course. Again, very intelligent and insightful commentary.
Both are worth your time.
